Influential Indian-Americans have reacted mixedly to Kamala Harris' candidacy for the post of Vice President from the Democratic Party.
Most voters believe that they do not have an understanding of what she stands for and neither does she consider herself a woman of Indian origin. Although various Indian-American groups are proud of him, people doubt that Harris will be able to deal with important issues related to India. Harris's selection has led to mixed reactions from 39 million Indian-Americans.
Distinguished Oklahoma State University professor Padma Shri is pleased with the selection of awardee Subhash Kak Harris, but he is not happy with his political connections. He said that I am disappointed with his political position which is not favorable to India.
Aditya Satsangi, the founder of American for Hindus, who represents the interests of Hindus in America, believes that Harris has been systematically brought in by Democrats to divide Indian-American votes.
He said Harris has always claimed to be of African descent rather than Indian and his record as a lawyer in California is highly dubious.
