Describing patriotism as the basic character of Hindus, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that Hindus can never be anti-India. Bhagwat gave the example of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, and said, Bapu himself believed that patriotism was aroused in him by religion.
While releasing the book 'Making of a Hindu Patriot: Background of Gandhiji Hind Swaraj' by JK Bajaj and MD Srinivas, Bhagwat said on Friday, "If someone is a Hindu, he would definitely be a patriot."
Describing the book as an authentic research document on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagwat said, Bapu never considered his religion and patriotism to be different. He used to say that his love for the motherland came from his spiritual knowledge. Here, the meaning of religion is not limited to religion, it is very broad.
Bhagwat said some people speculate here that the Sangh is defining Gandhi's ideas as his own, then it is wrong because no one can define the views of such great figures with his arguments. They are accepted on their basis only.
Patriotism does not mean just love the land Bhagwat said patriotism is the basic nature of every Hindu. Many times it is possible to wake up his patriotism, but it is not possible in any case to be a Hindu traitor and indulge in anti-India activities.
It is important to mention here that patriotism means not only love of the land but also the love of the people, culture, traditions, rivers, and everything here. Hindutva believes in unity. Differences in views do not necessarily mean separation. Bhagwat said Gandhiji has accepted that Hindutva is the religion of all religions.
Gandhi's Swaraj means the reconstruction of society Explaining Bapu's Swaraj, Bhagwat said, it does not mean to be your king or to take power on your own. Bapu's Swaraj is actually a reconstruction of society, which is carried forward on the basis of different civilizations.
