A heart-wrenching tragic incident has come to light in Virar of Palghar district, adjacent to Mumbai. The daughters kept the body of their father in the house for four days due to fear of death from Corona and fear of being quarantined.
Police said that the daughters were afraid that after the death of their father, they would be investigated, and if found infected, they would be kept in quarantine. The mutilated body of retired ration officer Haridas Saharkar was found from his house in Virar's Gokul town on Wednesday, senior police inspector Raju Mane of Arnala Sagari police station said.
The whole matter came to light when Saharkar's younger daughter Swapnali jumped into the sea in Navapur earlier in the day and was saved by the local people.
He said the investigation revealed that Saharkar had died at home on Sunday following which the family kept his body at home out of fear. He said that Vidya, the elder daughter of the deceased person committed suicide by jumping into the sea in Navapur and her body has been recovered by the police.
