Schools opened on Sunday after 543 days and thousands of children returned to their classes at school, as the coronavirus pandemic situation improved and vaccination programs intensified in Bangladesh.
News channels also showed children entering the school wearing school uniforms. Despite wearing masks, the smiles of the children were visible. The teachers welcomed the children by giving them chocolates at the door of the school. The parents were stopped at the entrance of the school to avoid overcrowding.
Education Minister Dipu Moni has warned against any negligence in implementing the security measures. After visiting a school in Dhaka's Azimpur area, he said the government may decide to restart online classes if it looks like the infection is spreading again. Schools were closed on March 17, 2020, after the outbreak of Corona in Bangladesh.
